I’ve spent months asking 23andMe a simple technical question:  
**What evidence from my own kit supports assigning my paternal haplogroup as I-L22?**  
Specifically I asked for things like:  
whether L22 was directly observed or inferred,  
which Y-SNPs were evaluated,  
whether any relevant SNPs were no-calls or excluded,  
and how alternative branches were ruled out.  
After multiple conversations, the support chat ultimately acknowledged that:  
they cannot provide kit-specific technical substantiation,  
they cannot point me to a published policy describing how customers can request it,  
and they cannot identify a documented process for obtaining that evidence.  
Instead, they refer customers to the Haplogroup Report and Scientific Details page, which doesn’t answer those kit-specific questions.  
I’m not saying my haplogroup is necessarily wrong.  
I’m asking whether a company should report a specific paternal haplogroup without being able to explain the technical basis for that assignment to the customer who received it.  
Has anyone else asked 23andMe for the underlying evidence behind their Y-haplogroup assignment? If so, what response did you receive?
