Selling my Irish registered car to a friend in the North, what is the process?

I'm aiming to sell my 2014 Peugeot 208 to a friend in Northern Ireland, but I'm not really familiar with the process & paperwork that this would introduce.

The car is essentially going to be a gift, ideally I'd like to give it to them without any actual cash exchanged. Would this introduce further complications, and would it just be easier to involve cash?

Any help at all on which official channels we'd need to go through would be appreciated
