Onboarding Salary Negotiation Question [TN]
Background:
New team being built at large industrial manufacturing / international company. I was recruited early by hiring VP and after several months and 5 rounds of interviews I was just offered.
First HR interview in Late March, HR asked what I felt fair comp should be as it’s a new role so they were gathering info. I said “Mid 100’s, maybe 150?ish?”
Crushed interviews. VP emailed me an hour after Fridays panel saying “performed brilliantly” and HR texted at 6pm Friday evening to call and extend the offer. They seem locked in.
I’m considering a light counter along the lines of “after interview process and getting better feel for the role I feel 160 better fits” (not final wording).
THE ASK:
Is this bad form? I likely want the role regardless and the bump seems small but adding bonus % plus compounding raises over time… etc….
I don’t want to leave money on the table at the start but also don’t want to be get off on the wrong foot.
Thoughts?
Thank you!
