Totally refurb 1999 Subzero?

Have a failing 1999 Subzero 680. Had a clearly knowledgeable guy out and he says it needs both compressors and evaporator coils, new door seal (true for sure), new bottom hinge, maybe a couple other things. $5700 quote roughly.

Is it crazy to put this kind of money in? A comparable new one looks to be around $17k

I keep hearing that brands you get at Costco, Best Buy, etc are crap these days and commonly fail within 2-5 years
