Maybe your fav idols aren’t as talented as you think
Every time a bad song dropped, I’d argue that they should take more time to craft the music even if it meant delaying the release, and people were like ‘That will kill their career!’ lol. Of course, the common belief is that if you don’t release music regularly, you’ll be done. So apparently it’s better to release a bad song today than a good one tomorrow. It seems like ‘We believe in music’ is just an empty tagline that means absolutely nothing.
Moreover, idols are also required to stay in the public eye. I checked one gg's tiktok account and found that they post around 8 videos a week. That means they're basically posting every single fucking day (not to mention weverse updates and shit). These idols are jumping on every viral trend and doing all those stupid dance challenges, trying hard to be current. Combined with all that shitty music they released, it seems like their agencies make them seem as if they're fame-hungry snails who only care about chasing clout at the expense of bottom-of-the-barrel quality music.
The way kpop groups rely so heavily on momentum and constant visibility reflects a lack of faith from agencies in their idols' talent and ability to draw fans back. Hence, the labels don't put much time or effort into making proper music, as they keep dropping bad crap after bad crap. Also, I think some kpop fans have no idea what they like anyway and they don’t care. They’ve been conditioned to accept generic, bland, electronic slop for years. Red Red, Boompala and Iconic by Mistake are just unnecessary noise pollution that passes for music these days. They make it as cheap and as easy as possible and therefore it always sounds the same.
As for the idols themselves, kpop idols are probably some of the most overglazed artists out there. I saw a number of fans overpraising their faves as if they were Michael Jackson regens, when in fact most of them are bang average at best. I’m not saying that in a negative way. They are talented indeed, just not that talented. They mostly couldn’t write songs, couldn’t play instruments and had average vocals. But apart from that, I really admire their hard work and commitment to the job.
