Looking for a single-player game with a mobile base, humanoid companions, and fire support
I’m looking for a single-player game in which I travel through the world with a large mobile base.
The ideal gameplay loop would be:
- Travel to a new area with the mobile base.
- Leave the base to explore and fight.
- Receive direct fire support from the base while fighting outside.
- Return to the base to rest, craft, store equipment, upgrade it, and interact with companions.
I would also like the base to have human or humanoid companions living aboard it. Ideally, they would have personalities, dialogue, stories, and possibly accompany me in combat. I’m less interested in a base populated only by generic workers, robots without personalities.
The base should be difficult-to-destroy.
I don't like pure sandbox games because they feel aimless. I hope the game has a main story or at least a main objective.
Art-style preference
I would like the base to look relatively:
- Clean, Bright and comfortable
- Modern or science-fiction-inspired
Only the mobile base and its interior need to match my preferred aesthetic. The outside world does not.
I generally dislike bases that are rusty, dirty, steampunk or makeshift.
Close or partial matches
Volcanoids is close mechanically but it lacks the kind of companion crew I want. And I would prefer a more modern, sci-fi, futuristic, or anime-style setting and visual design.
Voidtrain is also mechanically close to what I want. However, I don’t like the train’s steampunk and somewhat dirty industrial art style. I would also strongly prefer human or humanoid companions over creature-like Rofleemos.
Death Stranding 2 is another partial match because the DHV Magellan is a futuristic mobile base with a crew and combat-support capabilities. I like that general concept, but I don’t enjoy the game’s heavy focus on deliveries, cargo transportation, and courier work. I would prefer a game focused more on exploration, combat, or story missions.
Empyrion - Galactic Survival is another partial match. However, it's NPC crew are largely decorative and lack meaningful interaction, personality, or active participation in gameplay.
