Have you ever experienced an intense stare with someone before?

Curious to get some help with a situation I recently experienced.

I attended a small charity function a couple of months ago. After greeting a few people, I turned around and there was this one guy who seemed to be facing me already, standing completely still with a neutral look in his face and his eyes just seemed to instantly locked to mine, quite intensely as if he was looking into my soul from a couple of metres away.

Was hard not to notice him, hard to look away as well.

He didn’t flinch a single bit when I noticed him either and it wasn’t until I did the tiniest smile that he even acknowledged or said anything to which he said hello in a super restrained voice. There was not any real conversation after that.

It’s honestly been in my mind ever since and I have no idea, I’ve never experienced that kind of first impression before.

From what I’ve heard, he’s quite a socially confident person.

For additional context, we’re both in our 40’s.

Do any of you guys do this or know someone who does and could possibly help me with what it meant?
