AIO about my work situation

This is driving me fucking insane. My mother wanted me to get a job and now I have one she’s telling me to ask for so much time off for tennis. It’s humiliating asking my managers for it because they’ll think why the fuck did I get a job if I am away so much.

I am contracted to work 5 hours per week and I don’t have set days to work yet so I can’t plan around them but I am letting them know 3 weeks in advance that I am unavailable for some days. I would genuinely rather not play the tournaments than tell them I can’t work but she’s insisting that I play them and tell work I am unavailable for like 2 weeks in August.

Put yourself in my managers shoess. If you hired someone for part time work and they are contracted for 5 hours weekly and they don’t have certain days that they work yet, and the policy is to let them know of vacations 3 weeks in advance and they tell you they can’t work for 2 weeks out of a month when they only have like 2 shifts per week, would you be mad. My mother keeps reassuring me that they can’t be mad about it because I’m not in the wrong but it makes me feel like shit.
