I'm mad at my best friend and I don't know how to deal with it.
So I (20M) and my best friend (19F) have been really close for 2 years now. What I love most about my relationship with her is how authentic we both are, neither of us never had any romantic interest in the other yet we express our love for each other so freely and it feels really good.
Recently she told me her friend was interested in me, and that she wanted to date me. I was interested in her friend too so I got to know her more by text and we went on some kind of "dates" around campus, but I never actually asked her out which I think is my first mistake. Everytime we were together it all went really well but she could very well just see me as a friend.
I expressed my doubts to my bestie and she kept reassuring me that her friend likes me and is really interested in me. I believed her and I let myself get attached to this new girl knowing that when the time is right I'll just express my love (again, a big mistake from my part tbh)
Anyways my bestie came out of nowhere yesterday and told me that she wasn't actually sure all this time whether her friend liked me. She told me that all she knew was that she was physically into me, but nothing else was sure. I honestly got pretty mad at how she kept giving me false hopes, and now I don't know whether this madness is justified or whether she just wanted the best for me and wanted me to make a move on her friend...
I communicated my displeasure to her, and she completely dismissed it and said that I should just "move on". And then immediately after that she started talking about a new guy that she got really close to and was talking to that had the potential to be a new best friend to her 😭. I don't mind her having other friends but I just think the timing was kind of awkward, I feel like she should've helped me deal with my dissapointement a little more before telling me all about her new friend.
Anyways I understand this might all be in my head. Maybe I annoyed her with all the talk about her friend and she just wanted to talk about something lighter. I still really like her and I'll probably be over all this soon enough, but right now I'm feeling like shit. So any advice on how to deal with this situation would be welcome.
Thank you!
