Thank you, stranger

I left my wallet on the counter at Country Fair downtown last night. I just bought something to drink, but I managed to leave my wallet right there on the counter. Some angel of a man, on a cane mind you, sped to catch up to me to get my attention to return it.

I wish I could have given him some money as a thank you, but I opened my wallet to pull something out to thank him and immediately remembered that I had just spent that money. Not that he'd have taken it, he was already halfway back to register before I processed what was happening. I was just standing there holding my wallet with that "Wow I'm an idiot" expression.
