Feeling like a loser after selling my home

Need Reassurance...

I feel like I got scammed selling a house. It started good, but things kept getting added, expenses kept piling up. We told our realtor we didn't want to extend the contract when the closing was delayed again, we wanted to cancel the sale and just rent the house so we could move back in later years.

I don't know how to describe it. We weren't physically intimidated, but it suddenly became her telling us lawyers would have to be involved and that she'd reimburse us for some of our losses, we just needed to sign the paperwork and she'd make it alright. She didn't, of course. We walked into closing making significantly less than we understood we were making and we have a lot of regret and, honestly, humiliation. She didn't pay anything and dropped us as soon as the paperwork was signed.

I never thought of myself as a stupid person, but I'm asking myself why I kept signing and why I didn't get an attorney involved. We should have walked out. It all seems clear now, but in the moment...

I know what happened to me will go nowhere. It honestly seems pretty common. I'm just left feeling like a giant loser that can't make basic adult transactions without getting taken advantage of and I don't know how to keep swallowing the bitterness and anger that I feel.

Thank you for listening.
