What is with Chennai Landlords ?just curious!

I just shifted to chennai for work and I am looking out for 1bhk, 1rk flats for myself, but the rent and deposit they are asking for is way more higher than other metro cities. Like i just saw a 2BHK non furnished 6-7km inside main road of velachery asking for 25k with 6 month deposit is it normal? or I am missing out something?
