Books to feed my Leviticus obsession?
I saw the new film Leviticus last week and it’s been genuinely eating away at my brain ever since. I’ve never come across a story quite like it before, and I’m desperate for more! The things I’m searching for are similar Gothic/rural settings (think Ethel Cain vibes, lol), violence and darkness juxtaposed with tenderness in intimate moments, sexual discovery, religious/social commentary, star-crossed love against the odds. Bonus if there’s a horror element. I’m pretty open to most angst and dark themes/taboos but don’t love an age gap, and would prefer if not a complete HEA, at the very least a bittersweet ending rather than just a total tragedy.
The film’s synopsis, for anyone unfamiliar:
Two teenage boys living in a religious small town are haunted by a violent and demonic entity that takes the form of the person they desire the most: each other.
