From “Want to Hire You” to Another Disappointment

I have been unemployed since early December 2025. I have my master’s and over 8 years of experience. I was at my last job for 6.5 years. I thought that the grueling months of blowing through my savings, accumulating debt, endless applications, multiple interviews, and this prospective employer telling me on my final interview that they loved me and wanted to hire me would finally come to an end. They were telling me about the projects I’d be working on and how there are so many places I could fit in at the company because I had such a versatile skillset. Only for weeks later they rejected me and said they’d love to bring me on at some point when a position that didn’t have such strict contract requirements opened up and that I could follow all of them on LinkedIn if I’d like. They said I was extremely technical but the contract required someone slightly for technical because of contract requirements. Why did they ever interview me? I’ve gotten 4 rejections in the span of one week. Probably more just never received any updates from the others claiming to be interested. I’m in financial ruin as well. I was begrudgingly surviving off of my Amex CC and they also lowered my limit by like 9k. So yeah life’s great. Oh and my engine had a misfire yesterday. It also looks like the state decreased my benefits (TBD).
