Meaghamann and Kaithi are basically similar in many ways.

Meaghamann is one of my all-time favorite thriller movies and is criminally underrated. Everything in the movie was top-notch, including Magizh Thirumeni’s direction, Thaman’s music, Arya’s performance and the storyline, except for the Hansika portion. Honestly, I want the movie to remain underrated.

Kaithi is a movie that almost everyone loves and everything about it is excellent too. I don’t have to say anything about it and nobody really needs to hear me praise it again.

I rewatched Meaghamann yesterday and I couldn’t help but notice how dangerously similar the storyline and several story elements are to Kaithi:

1. Both movies revolve around a huge consignment of drugs coming into police custody.
2. Both feature undercover officers, with the gang trying to figure out who the undercover cop is.
3. Both have a mysterious villain whose identity is unknown to the public, Jothi in Meaghamann and Adaikalam in Kaithi.
4. And last but not least, in both movies, each packet of drugs has the same scorpion symbol.

I’m not saying Kaithi is a copy of Meaghamann. But some of the main and important plot points are undeniably similar.

Bottom line, if you haven’t watched Meaghamann, go watch it. I highly recommend it. You’re in for a treat.

The similarities between Meaghamann and Kaithi are hard to ignore
