Let's talk about Guoshi's "interrogation"! ;)

SpoilerDiscussion

Hellooo!

I’m currently on my nth re-read of TGCF (because sister MXTX feeds us no new crumbs, which I totally understand and respect, but still, cries in fangirl), and I just reached that one specific part that always makes me chuckle.

I’m talking about the scene where Guoshi basically forces Xie Lian into a "coming out" interrogation. When XL finally confesses his feelings, Guoshi asks if XL was born that way (as in, someone who loves men) and then adds that at least in this regard, XL doesn't resemble HIM (meaning Jun Wu).

I swear, every time I read this, I feel like MXTX is cutely but firmly shoving it down our throats: "No, girlies, the JunLian, JunMei ship is officially forbidden because JW is strictly not into men." 😂

Honestly, it reminds me of how she introduced Jian Lan for Feng Xin. To me, it felt like a tactical move just to make sure people wouldn't ship Feng Xin with Mu Qing... because let's be real, a guy who is borderline terrified of women suddenly having a past like that? A bit out of character, but please don't attack me, it’s just my personal hot take!

Even with that line from Guoshi, I could never imagine Jun Wu keeping a harem or having a normal romantic relationship back in the day. To me, he always felt like someone who would consider such "weak, mortal emotions" completely beneath him.

MXTX really is the ultimate captain – she builds a beautiful sea but sinks every single ship instantly because she wants all eyes on Hualian (which fair enough, we love them).

How do you guys see Jun Wu’s "romantic past"? 😄 And what was your favorite non-canon /sunk ship that you still secretly love?
