Anyone else rotate 2-3 mobile games to avoid daily check-ins? My little experiment

News

I love mobile games, but I live in a shared apartment and my boyfriend is around a lot, so my free time comes in weird little slices. After we host friends I usually want quiet, low-effort downtime, and I realized a bunch of my games had become nothing but a checklist I felt guilty about.

So for the last month I tried a simple rule: only 2 or 3 games stay "active" at a time. Everything else gets uninstalled or shoved into a folder called "Later" with notifications off. I usually keep one game that is more involved, one that is cozy and brain-off, and sometimes a third for very quick sessions.

I was surprised at how much of the daily login pressure was coming from me, not the games. Once I stopped trying to maintain streaks across half a dozen titles, I actually enjoyed the active ones more. I also found I was less likely to do that half-playing thing while talking to people or cleaning up after guests.

Downside: when I go back to a game after a break I get slammed with popups, returning-player rewards, and a bunch of time-limited banners, which can feel overwhelming.

How do you handle this? Do you rotate games like seasons, or stick to one main game forever? If you rotate, do you have a system for deciding which games stay active?
