Financial Idiocracy
I've been struggling for a little while now, I finished university and have been working as a support/care worker for a charity in the UK for minimum wage. I had some unexpected costs and ended up putting a bunch of my guitars and music equipment in a pawn shop on a buy back thing they do. Essentially giving me cash and I'd have to pay a percentage on top to get my items back or just pay the interest and roll it over to the next month. I took less than what I needed as I didn't want to pay a crazy amount of interest.
I was managing it okay until I had an accident. I suffered an ACJ type 3 injury (essentially a full separation of the shoulder/arm joint) about 4 weeks ago and had to have urgent surgery. The recovery time for this is 4-6 months and I am not receiving any sick pay from my job, in fact I've been told as they will need to hire someone to make up for my hours that my hours will be massively reduced when I return. I've had to apply for universal credit and after rent payments I'm left with £25 a week from them. My items are worth 3/4 times the amount I have them in for so getting them out then selling them would be much preferred than losing out(keeping them would be ideal but I'm over that). I need £350 to extend the items or around £1000 to buy them all back. I can probably raise the extension money but then I'm just left with the same problem next month. I can foresee this being the case for a while until I'm back at work, leading to a situation where I've probably paid more to keep them than what it'd be worth selling them properly.
Should I just let them go?
Are there any money making methods anyone can suggest online?
I was thinking about getting into clipping content but that just feels a bit lame, any suggestions would be helpful!
Thanks.
