Should my sister drop B.Sc. B.Ed for B.Sc. Computer Science? Need genuine career advice.

Education and Career Advice

My sister is feeling really confused about her bachelor's degree.

She is currently in the 1st year of a B.Sc. B.Ed program at a small college in our hometown. Alongside her degree, she is preparing for UPSC.

Recently, she has been thinking about dropping B.Sc. B.Ed and enrolling in a B.Sc. in Computer Science. The reason is that she doesn't see teaching as a career she wants to pursue if UPSC doesn't work out. Since UPSC is extremely competitive, she wants a strong backup plan.

Her concern is that if she continues with B.Sc. B.Ed and later decides not to become a teacher, she may have to learn technical skills from scratch before pursuing a master's degree or aiming for a high-paying job in tech. On the other hand, she's worried that if she switches to B.Sc. Computer Science at a good college, the coursework might be much more demanding and leave her with less time to prepare for UPSC.

So she's stuck between two options:

Continue with B.Sc. B.Ed, focus on UPSC, and decide what to do after graduation if needed. Or drop B.Sc. B.Ed now and pursue B.Sc. Computer Science to build a stronger career backup while preparing for UPSC.

Has anyone been in a similar situation or have any advice? We'd really appreciate honest opinions, especially from UPSC aspirants, teachers, or people working in tech. Thank you!
