How to play Bow?

Obviously I know the basic controls. I simply started a new character cause my friend wanted to play but didn't want to play solo.

So I chose to try some new weapons and im genuinely curious how anyone can bring themselves to use this weapon? Im just lost how people genuinely solo hunts with this thing.

Cause I shoot a basic shot and it does low damage. So I hold to charge and it just feels like im wasting dps time for minor damage buffs.

Some useful insight on how to play bow would be nice cause I don't wanna give up on the weapon. But atm im not vibing with it.
