Reduce highblood pressure
Hi everyone. I’m a 34-year-old male looking for some advice.
Recently, my partner (she’s a nurse) randomly checked my blood pressure because I’ve been experiencing mild dizziness from time to time. It wasn’t part of a scheduled checkup—we were just trying out her BP monitor and glucometer at home. My blood pressure reading was 160/110 mmHg.
Since we already had the equipment out, she also checked my blood sugar. It was a random (non-fasting) blood sugar test, and the result was 118 mg/dL.
Back when I was working abroad, our company required an annual medical examination. During those checkups, the doctor always told me that my blood pressure was borderline high. The last reading I remember was around 140/90 mmHg, which they said could be related to work stress and lack of proper sleep.
I came back to the Philippines this March because my partner and I are planning to migrate to another country in the future. I decided not to renew my contract and am now focusing on building a career as a digital creator.
I don’t smoke, I don’t drink alcohol, and I don’t have any other vices. Since I now work mostly from home, I don’t get as much physical activity as I used to. Most of my day is spent creating content, editing, or gaming. I do walk for exercise sometimes, but I haven’t been consistent.
As for my diet, I do eat vegetables regularly, but after seeing my blood pressure reading, I started researching and learned that I should reduce my sodium intake.
I haven’t noticed any pain or burning when I urinate. My urine is usually a normal yellow color. Sometimes I notice a few small bubbles in my urine, but they disappear after a short time. I’m not sure if that’s something I should be concerned about.
My main symptoms are occasional mild dizziness and feeling sleepier than usual.
Has anyone here experienced something similar? What lifestyle changes, diet, or habits helped lower your blood pressure? Were you able to control it naturally, or did you eventually need medication?
I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences. Thank you!
