3rd version of Cold Spring Harbor?

I bought Cold Spring Harbor on vinyl in 1985 in what I’m assuming was the retail “fixed” version. I have certainly heard the 1971 “chipmunk” version that was such a disaster.
Based on chatter it sounds like someone has, at least attempted to produce an improved 3rd version that is out there, but not for retail consumption. Is this true, or am I misunderstanding what people are talking about?
