Camping in Asheville in August advice

Me & my boyfriend have a trip planned to go camping in mid August near asheville for like 3 nights, we're fairly newbie campers. If anyone has any advice on what to be prepared for regarding weather etc. We're expecting it to be somewhat cold but should we be prepared for alot of rain around that time? We went camping near Gatlingburg TN last year in fall and it rained on us as soon as we put our tent up so we got all wet and it was freezing and we brought a heated blanket and some hand and feet warmers but the heated blanket ended up just not working for some reason so we froze bad lol. And the inside of our tent got soaked which is our fault for not setting up earlier but still. We just want this time round to go more smoothly. Any advice would be awesome
