Removing missed payment from credit report?
SOS. I’m extremely distraught. Has anyone successfully gotten Capital One to forgive a late payment and remove it from your credit report? Is it even possible to get it removed from your credit report?
Background: My partner paid off his Capital One credit card earlier this year. He didn’t realize that after he paid off the balance, $2 in interest came through. And then a month later, a $16 charge from Amazon. He said that charge from Amazon was supposed to come out of his checking, not the CC. We just had a baby in April, and I had some postpartum complications that put me back in the hospital. We have both been in survival mode for the last few months with a newborn.
I typically handle all bills, but very much slacked on bills that weren’t automatic (as most are). I just sat down to work on bills this week, and that’s when I discovered he missed TWO payments for his Capital One card. He says he never got a call from them (which, we get bad reception so unless they leave a voicemail there’s a good chance we wouldn’t see if they did call). Just got a letter from them for the first time today.
I feel absolutely sick to my stomach. All this over less than $30!! We worked so hard on paying off debt and improving our credit scores recently, as we will need a new car soon (current one is old and becoming unsafe). Now his credit score took a BIG dive. 😭😭😭 We are unmarried, but have been together 15 years and always do joint loans. He also makes considerably more than me, so it would be hard to apply for one myself. Any chance Capital One might forgive the late payment and reverse it from the credit report? If he begs and pleads?
