Supergirl Movie, A Fair Critic
I don't think Supergirl is failing because people hate female heroes.
The bigger issue is that Hollywood keeps repeating the same mistake. Instead of letting the movie speak for itself, the marketing focused on political messaging and unnecessary culture war topics. When actors or filmmakers publicly dismiss or mock parts of the audience before release, they shouldn't be surprised if those people lose interest.
Most moviegoers don't care about political statements. They want a compelling story, memorable characters, and good entertainment. If a film underperforms, blaming the audience instead of reflecting on the writing, marketing, or creative decisions only pushes people further away.
That's the lesson many studios still don't seem to understand.
