Only one mortal has ever won a bet against the goddess of luck. She remembers. He doesn't.

Joseph wakes in the gutter of a cruel and corrupt port city with nothing but his name and a coin that only lands heads. No memory, no history, no explanation for why he knows how to read a mark, work a room, and win a coin toss by calling it wrong. The skills come back. The man they belonged to doesn't.

So he plays the hand he's dealt. A con here. A cantrip there. Dreams that feel less like dreams and more like evidence. And the deeper he digs, the clearer it becomes. The man he's excavating was better than the one holding the shovel.

What happened to him is the question.
