Fear mongering and paranoia on this sub when people are planning to move to Spain.
Why are so many comments here so negative and discouraging toward people inquiring about moving to Spain?
Finding accommodation? Forget it, apparently it's either $3,000+ per month or a 3-hour commute from the city center. Want to work? Forget it, jobs supposedly don't exist, or you end up living some kind of slave-like existence. Friendly Spaniards? Nope, just "don't come." You don't have a C2 level of Spanish? Forget it — you'll just be laughed at, rejected by landlords, and dismissed by officials.
Of course Spain has real challenges: housing costs have increased, wages can be low, and bureaucracy can be frustrating. But sometimes the advice goes beyond realism and becomes pure discouragement.
Millions of foreigners live in Spain, learn the language, find work, make friends, and build a life there. It seems strange that online discussions often portray a country of 48 million people as if it is impossible to integrate into.
Why do so many conversations about moving to Spain become fear-based instead of practical, realistic, and balanced?
