EXT-25 for our newborn

Me and my wife are non-EU South Asians and recently have our first baby in Spain. I’m (father) working on a Highly Qualified Professional Visa since 2023 under the UGE regime, my wife’s residency permit is also linked with me and our residence permits are renewed every 2 years.I can also apply the same permit under UGE for my son but looking at the form EXT-25 seems like a better option as it grants 5 years of residency to my son which would be independent of my residency status.

Someone told me that you cannot apply this type of long term residency for your child because EXT-25 application goes through Extranjeria instead of UGE regime. So we are confused at this point.

Has anyone applied the EXT-25 type residency for their child as non-EU parents? Please guide if its doable. TIA
