Are Macbooks unreliable ?

I bought a used MacBook M1 (13-inch, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD) from a dealer about a year ago. The display had already been replaced with an aftermarket one before I bought it. Last month, the display stopped working because of a flex cable issue, and now one of the USB-C ports has also stopped working.

Around the same time, my iPad 6 developed a backlight issue as well. Repairing both devices is going to cost a lot.

I'm thinking about buying the new MacBook Air M5, but I'm worried about the repair costs if something goes wrong in the future. I know I can get AppleCare+, but it only covers the first 3 years.

For those of you who have used MacBooks for a long time, what has your experience been? Have you had any major hardware issues? Are the repair costs worth the overall experience, and would you still recommend buying one?
