Is anyone else feeling the weight of racial divides right now?

With everything in the news recently it’s hard to not feel like we are still much more divided than I once thought. It’s not that I ever wanted to forget about racism but I definitely thought we made some progress. As a white woman dating a black man and planning to have interracial children, transparently, with everything going on recently I’m feeling the pressure. I have never feared motherhood as I’ve always felt I’ll have the skills and motherly instincts innately, however, I fear I won’t have every response when it comes to racism or how to stay safe in this world. We live in a very progressive area and I don’t feel like racism is as prevalent in our area luckily but I still know those conversations will be necessary. I do think it’s important to have these conversations without putting either race down as a whole because the fact of the matter is, not every white person is bad and I still believe there is way more good than bad here and my boyfriend would say the same even as a black man. Does anyone have any advice on how to have these conversations without generalizing or completely demonizing one race? I want my children to know they are safe with both sides of the family but watch out for certain things in public spaces, friends groups, etc. Hopefully this makes sense! Please keep the comments respectful, I feel like I’ve noticed some hate in here when it comes to white women dating black men.
