Airbnb host is asking me to wait another month before acquiring me, is that normal?

I'm very new to renting Airbnb and I'm a student and this is my first time doing solo traveling. I picked out a good place and the host seems cool. I made a partial payment and plan on paying the rest before the due date but my host is asking me to wait another month to book his place to see if he could confirm me.

My trip is in September and that's around Oktober fest, my main concern is the places to be taken or the price goes up. That's the main reason why I'm trying to book as early as possible. Is this normal for Airbnb or no?
