Network knowledge

Hi,

I currently work as Patching Engineer at a multinational MSP in the UK.

I’ve recently started using TryHackMe to learn blue team stuff coz I am hoping to get a security-focused job by the end of the year (Vulnerability Management role is my initial target to start with as that’s what I do in my current role although we only patch Windows Servers).

I’ve seen people advising to get Net+ cert coz CCNA apparently dives too deep into networking content which is not needed unless you’re looking for a Network Security role.

So my question is: for someone like me interested in Blue Team roles, looking to start in Vuln Mgmt or generic Cyber Analyst roles just to open the doors with the hopes of one day specialising in IAM/PAM…Networks wise, regardless of the certification, what would you say I must master? IP/Subnetting in my opinion is a must for any IT role, but in my case, what else do I need to have a solid knowledge of?
