Website Restrictions on MacOS

About a month ago, I updated my iPhone which led to the blocking of some websites unless I verified my identity and age.

I do not intend to do this.

I have intentionally kept my Mac from updating to avoid this prompt to verify. Is it safe to update MacOS, or am I correct in preventing the updates?
