My boyfriend likes Mushoku Tensei?

Me and my boyfriend have been talking about good animes to watch together and he said he really liked Mushoku Tensei and said he really related with the MC saying we should watch it together and maybe i could cosplay some of the characters. The thing is I've heard alot about that anime being 'Bait' and 'Slop' even saying the MC is a pedophile? So i just didnt watch it and i mentioned it to him that I'm uncomfortable watching it and he could watch it himself. He got all mad at me and saying his character development is good and hes one of the best isekai MCS even comparing him to kazuma from konosuba because they're apparently both perverted? 😭 I just want a second opinion on this because im still unsure about watching it with him.
