Would you pay $1 for a 7-day trial instead of using a free plan?

today i was debating on Reddit about removing the free plan.

someone replied:

why not charge $1 for a 7-day trial?

You get real customers who are willing to pay (not just free users)

cheap and easy way to turn interested people into paying customers.

genius or terrible idea?
