I'm 12 years old and I wrote a 16-bit OS in Assembly (Ariona OS v2)
Hi everyone!
My name is Fedor. I'm 12 years old and I've been learning low-level programming for a while. Yesterday I finished the second version of my hobby OS called "Ariona OS".
It's a 16-bit real-mode operating system written entirely in x86 Assembly (NASM).
Features:
- Custom bootloader (reads kernel from disk via BIOS int 0x13)
- Text-mode UI (VGA)
- Keyboard input handling (BIOS int 0x16)
- Simple menu system (with 2 working options: App Engine and Shutdown)
- Works in QEMU and on real hardware (80386+ / 1.44 MB floppy)
Codebase: ~150 lines of pure assembly for the kernel + bootloader.
This is my first step into OSDev. I know it's very basic (just real-mode), but I'm proud of it and I want to learn more.
My next goals:
- Switch to Protected Mode (GDT, A20)
- Add a simple keyboard driver (without BIOS)
- Write a FAT12 reader

I would be very grateful for any feedback, advice, or code reviews. If you see any mistakes or bad practices, please tell me — I want to get better!
Thanks for reading!
