Plants to go in the shade of a wall?
Hi everyone, given the funky weather we’ve been having I’m really struggling to work out what to plant in this awkward area of my (new build) garden and am seeking suggestions from the hive mind!
My south facing garden is not big (10 sq.m tops) and has a very curved outside wall which is a pig to mow. I would like to plant some things right in the curve to make it easier to mow and soften the place up.
The curve of the wall is east facing, in shade for most of the day but is quite free draining (and clay so cracks easily in a heatwave as the rest of the garden is a toasty sun trap) so I’m struggling as most plants in shade want damp conditions and are not drought tolerant.
Any suggestions please? I do not need flowers and am very happy with ‘structural shrubbery’ so have so far got a list which is 1) ferns and 2) hostas
Thank you in advance!
