I want to know what safety measures I should take when confronting someone, as I am feeling threatened.

I came to my hometown 2 months ago and my house is in a alley where houses are side by side and one night when i was going to throw garbage in dustbin which is outside i saw a tenant who lives in our neighbour's house and he was throwing their garbage in front of my garage and i confronted him and after confronting he didn't said sorry or anything but just gave explaination and then he left after collecting his garbage but today i saw his friends in our alley and i feel they're talking about me and i don't know why but i don't feel safe maybe they're cooking someting, like take a revenge or something.
