Thinner than expected cum after retaining for a month

I thought it would be thick as hell but it was a whitish, translucent color but was thinner than I expected. I checked on Google and it says it's common since the body starts to break it down and the semen mostly consists of precum. Is that right? I don't want to have a go at it again since it would be counterproductive and might as well pull back in.
