MVP: Best in League vs. Most Valuable to Team

🏀:download:Players:download:🏀

There’s a debate among players as to if MVP should go to the best person in the league or the most valuable person to a team (with a good record).

This difference isn’t interchangeable. While someone can be the best and most valuable to a team, you can be the best with a strong/stacked team. However, in other instances, there can be a top 10/15 player with a solid or mediocre team around them that they’ve propelled into excellence.

In the past, we’ve seen teams maintain their success without their best player whereas others have spiraled into mediocrity. Other times, despite being the best with (one of) the best on the team, they couldn’t win it all.

Should MVP take into account best metrics/best players, look at what they’re doing with the supporting cast they have, or a mixture of various factors?
