Xbox development issues can be summarized into 3 things

  1. There are too many hoops to jump through simply to start developing to decide if you even like how things work to make a decision. You have to ask for permission, pitch them your idea... what? I need an SDK not a colonoscopy. This is cart before the horse, I don't even know if my ideas will work well on the platform, I don't know what quirks and other oddities I have to deal with in order to make my concept happen... So I don't know if I'm going to WANT to do those things yet. Why on EARTH would I want to pitch a billion dollar company my idea before I make those decisions?

  2. Wait time and convoluted path just to get to 1.

  3. There are too many Microsoft dev paths, there should be one program, and various modular arms to engage depending on what you want to develop not 100 different sign ups for 100 different divisions of their giant company.

I'd rather develop for mobile platforms it's the path of least resistance and I can hit more customers than xbox in a single pop.

If the new lady firing everyone would simply retool how the process works she wouldn't need to buy every game dev/publisher on earth and then lay them off. She could just have a working ecosystem that lets people develop stuff, make money and see their percentage roll in.
