We're going to be okay

There is no doubt about it. Layoffs suck and they are scary. I have been here since beta, transitioned to Xbox and back to PC, and was here through the exodus of update 43 or whatever that whole debacle was. I have disagreed with a lot of what the ESO team has done and have agreed with a lot as well. Auridon is my favorite zone, Summerset was my favorite expansion, and Blackwood is the place I call home because that's where most of my time was spent during COVID. I have also spent most of my professional career in the corporate world. I have survived acquisitions and buyouts alike, however that survival is not without the emotional distress that accompanied those changes.

The current ESO team and former team members will recover from this. I promise you. Some of them will go on to create a better life for themselves (and their families) and contribute to games that may be more successful than ESO ever was. Some may job hop for a while. Some may file a lawsuit against Big Brother and win. Some may have to move. Some will finally get to withdrawal their 401k and retire because their spouse's salary is enough to give them a break from the corporate rat race. Life is crazy like that.

My point is that they're going to be okay and so will we. Continue to follow some of the former ESO contributors and see where life takes them. Humans can be inspiring. Some of us suck, but not all of us.
