Beginner here. How did you discover what kind of fragrances you like?

I'm just getting into perfumes and I'm confused about where to start. Since fragrance is so subjective, I don't want to blind buy a full bottle.

Did you guys start with decants or did you just buy a full bottle? Also, what were the first 4–5 fragrances that made you understand your taste?

I'd love to hear your journey and any beginner tips.
