Can I take the ring out and put it in the fridge for a week?

So Ive been using borth control rings, but this time, right as I swapped to the new one, within the next day, I started bleeding. Ive been through this before, if I don't remove the ring, I WILL bleed forever. It was 4 weeks of bleeding last time until I finally took it out. So this time, instead of throwing it away, I took it out, put it in a plastic bag, and put it back in the refrigerator until my period was over. Do you guys think I'm good?
