CRM or Digital Marketing to Get To Brand Management?

Question

Hello! I’m a rising senior in college that was lucky to find a company that I’m happy with and have been interning with for a year now, with the intentions of staying on after graduation. They’re a digital sports media company, offering remote opportunities.

I know that I’d like to end up in a brand management leadership position late in my career, and to this point I’ve served as a Social Media Intern on their brand marketing team. However, as a social media intern my job is JUST social media. Recently, a position opened up as a “Marketing Intern” that after reading the description is just a CRM intern.

My question is which of these is a better fit for my desired career path and end goal? Social media is a part of the “brand marketing” team, while CRM is just the CRM team. However, when working on the social team, as I said I just do social media with 0 other marketing tasks. I think it’s important for me to learn basic CRM/marketing analytics skills, but wanted professional opinions on what would be the route forward for me. Thank you!

TL;DR: Want to work in brand management leadership positions, is staying in a social media role where I’m on the “Brand Marketing” team but JUST make social posts best, or is transitioning to the CRM intern beneficial for my senior year?
