How hard would it be for a helper position?

I'm currently working in logistics but not making nearly enough (21 HR) my gf is currently pregnant and after a lot of research I feel like this is a big career to move forward in because of the difficulty in progressing in logistics. I'm in Louisiana she wants to move near covington mandeville area for family. But that's a city near baton rouge. I would like to know if apprentices or helper positions are easy to come by and if there's any online sources i cna use. I'M only nervous because I don't want to take a chance and fail and not be able to find employment or provide. Also if you have any tips to make the transition smoother or easier (people who went to school or career change as a first time father. I've just seen many people settle once they have a kid and just struggle and I don't want that.
