Profile Evaluation for MFE/MSCF 2027 Intake
Undergrad: IIT Guwahati/Roorkee
\-CGPA 9.15/10
\-Work-ex: 6-8 years as a Fixed Income Trader across US, Canada, Europe, and UK rates markets — managing my own book end-to-end.
\-GRE: 164Q / 157V ( Bad day)
\-Certifications: CFA Level II cleared
Two concerns I'd love feedback on:
\-Non-traditional work-ex length — most applicants I see have 0–3 years, and I'm coming in with 6-8.
\-GRE Quant score — is 164Q going to hurt me for quant-heavy programs?
Questions:
\-Is it worth retaking the GRE to push the Q score higher, or should I put that time/energy into other parts of the application (SOP, recommendations, interview prep)?
\-Which programs actually value senior industry experience rather than being dominated by fresh grads / early-career applicants? Looking for programs where an 8-year trading background is seen as an asset, not an odd fit.
Appreciate any insight — happy to share more details if helpful.
