I've tried 150 decants in the last 3 months. Here are a few of my ratings. Ask me anything.
Pending Full Bottle Purchase
-
Pernoire Anelo - I was so ready to hate this one because it gets absolutely bounced on online, but this is an absolutely stunning fragrance, a masterpiece. It's a similar lane to Vibrato and Imagination, but it does it with pineapple. This does pineapple as good as Absolu Aventus, but it's not as woodsy or smokey.
-
Guerlain Cuir Beluga - wow....it's so much more masculine than Vanille Planifolia or Double Vanille. I almost cried when I tried this. It's the perfect vanilla fragrance imo. This will be in my collection very very soon. It's an easy 10/10 for me. It's so elegant, but also so masculine relative to some other Guerlain bottles.
-
Argos Fall of Phaeton - incredible fragrance that blends so many notes I love into 1 incredible work of art tonka, ginger, lavender, cardamom, vanilla, and musk. It's masculine, it's easy to wear, it's not overly complex. Would highly recommend this one.
-
BDK Gris Charnel Extrait - I was a little nervous of this one because it has iris in it, and I don't love powdery fragrances. This one doesn't have that powdery/lipstick smell to it at all. In fact, this one I rated a 9.8/10. It's oil based as well so the performance is incredible. Such a unique combo of black tea, vetiver, fig, iris, sandalwood, patchouli.
-
Parfums de Marly Carlisle - I'm always quite surprised when people rate Herrod or Oajan above this one. I think Carlisle is easily better than both of those. Such a unique blend of bergamot, green apple, saffron, rose, patchouli, vanilla. It smells a little mysterious but fresh enough that it's not going to choke someone out.
-
Penhaligon's The Cut - I went into my plug and was convinced I wanted to try Halfeti and Mr. Sam's and he asked me if I had ever heard of this, I told him no. He told me it's his favorite Penhaligon's, it's just that no one talks about it. It's hard for me to describe why this one is so good, but it's fantastic.
Honorable mention: Memo Paris African Leather, YSL 6, Louis Vuitton Imagination, Stephan Humbert God of Fire (masterpiece), Louis Vuitton Afternoon Swim, Amouage Outlands, Killian Angels' Share, Parfums de Marly Percival, Guerlain Neroli Outrenoir, Louis Vuitton L'Immensite
Heavily Overpriced Fragrances and/or Overrated
-
Ex Nihilo Blue Talisman, Blue Talisman Extrait, Speed Legends Night Drive
-
Creed Virgin Island Water, Silver Mountain Water, Aventus, Aventus Cologne (Hacivat does the Aventus DNA better than Aventus and Cologne imo)
-
Sospiro Basso
-
Amouage Jubilation 40, Reflection Man, Interlude Black Iris, Interlude 53
-
Byredo Bal d'Afrique, Mojave Ghost
-
Nishane Ani (hate to say this because I love Nishane)
-
Initio Side Effect
-
Xerjoff Comandante, King Louis XV, Uden, Richwood, Torino 25, Alexandria II, Renaissance, Tony Iommi Monkey Special (smells so bad imo), Golden Dallah (also smells really bad)
-
Guerlain Spirituese Double Vanille, Vanille Planifolia, Herbes Troublantes - absolutely LOL to the price tags on these ones. Double Vanille and Planifolia are just super luxury vanilla bombs, Herbes Troublantes smells like a $700 soap. They all smell great, but don't come close to meeting their price tag. These should all be worth $200 or less.
-
Parfums de Marly, Althair, Oajan, Sedley, Greenley, Layton (really nice but buy on deep discount), Pegasus, Castley
-
Louis Vuiton Pacific Chill, City of Stars, Ombre Nomade, Meteore, Moon Tale
-
Dior Homme Intense
-
Roja Parfums Isola Blue, Burlington 1819
-
Ingenious Ginger
-
MFK Grand Soir, Baccarat Rogue, Gentle Fluidity Silver
Criminally Underrated Fragrances (probably wouldn't buy a full bottle of any of these, but still underrated)
-
Xerjoff Torino 22
-
Tom Ford Soleil Blanc
-
Sospiro Dolce Melodia
-
Nishane Meant to be Seen
