10:30 A.M.

I slowly awoke and looked around. I soon realized I was in grandpa’s old room as I sat up. I looked down at my hands as they were covered in ink from writing as I got up. I reached over and grabbed the letter that somehow remained mostly intact other than small splotches of ink on the corner from dipping the pen in the ink. I sat the letter back down on the table and I walked over to the bathroom. I saw that I was still in my work clothes and my eyes were red from crying. I turned on the water and washed my hands with soap to get rid of the ink. Then I cupped water in my hands and splashed it on my face to wake myself up more. I sat there for a second…staring at the mirror as I began to wonder

How long was I sleeping?

What time is it?

Why didn't I get woken up?

I turned off the water and grabbed a nearby towel to dry my face off. I dried my face off and set it on the towel rack, then walked back towards the desk. I grabbed the letter and pulled one of the desk drawers open. I grabbed an envelope and a stamp, then shut the drawer. I put the letter inside the envelope and sealed it with one of Fruit’s mail stamps on it. Then I picked up the quill as I noticed that it had dry ink in it. I went over to the sink again and turned it on as I washed the end of the pen of the dry ink. Then I walked back over and dipped it in ink again as I wrote on the envelope in the center

I put the quill pen back as I grabbed the envelope and walked out of the room. A morning worker saw me and waved me down

Worker: “Sir, did you sleep here? “ she asked confused

“ yea i did, I was in my grandfather’s room… How long was I asleep? “ I asked

Worker: “Well, you've been asleep ever since I came in, John from maintenance told me you've been in there since a little past 11…so probably a while “ she said

“ why did nobody wake me up “ I asked

Worker: “ most of us didn't know you were in there, I was gonna wake you up as soon as John told me but I had caught up with a situation with one of our residents “ she said

“ what time is it do you know? “ I asked her

Worker: “ its 10:30 in the morning sir “ she said

* I looked at my phone as I saw a dozen calls and texts from my family as I sighed *

“ I've made them worried sick “ I said as I was handed a fruit bar with strawberries and a bottle of water from the female worker. I nodded and grabbed it with my spare hand.

“Thank you Jessica “ I said as I walked towards the front door. I went over to the nearby mailbox for the UNC home and set my food and drink on top of the mailbox. I slid the envelope inside as I sighed

“Well, here goes nothing. Father God, help me now “ I said as I shut the mailbox door and darkness enveloped the envelope from inside the mailbox
