Schedule priorities

What even would you call this? Is there a word for when someone tells/asks/suggests you [to] do something, and then it becomes your nagging top priority even if it's not important, and it kind of bungles up your schedule because you can't stop stressing over it?

It's not the same feeling as plans being changed last minute and the stress from that, but I mean, it's similar. I suppose it's just feeling obligated and then stress resulting from that. I hate it though 'cause if someone's even like "You should read/watch XYZ" and I know it's something someone wants me to read/watch, it's on my thoughts the entire day even as I'm doing other shit. It's stressful, and annoying, and only goes away if I ignore it long enough or I finally read/watch what was suggested.

I had some great short stories suggested to me by a friend today and instead of watching a movie like I want I'm stuck fucking ruminating over reading that stuff today because for some reason I can't just easily tell myself "later".
